Nick attended in the Elf, a first visit to this event, hosted by ‘Newport Mini Owners Club’.

An early start for this show and a long drive to the West Wales coast, minis attending just for the Sunday show met outside the town to await the arrival of the rest of the cars that had been on the mini run from Cardiff that had started on the Saturday morning.

Approximately 50 minis attended on the Sunday convoying in to town to be parked up on the harbour side where a show and shine competition, charity raffle and tombola were being held.

The minis attracted a lot of interest during the course of the day.

After the long haul to Zarasai in Lithuania for IMM 2015, 2016 saw the event come much closer to home, hosted this year by ‘Mini Fun Club, Belgium’ at the Kristal Park in Lommel in Northern Belgium.

Nick, Dawn, Johnny, Dave, Alix, Rachel and Steve attended this year and were joined at the event by Nicks IMM friends Stephen, Jackie and Robert.

This was one of the largest IMM’s to be held outside of the UK with over 3100 people and 2600 minis booked in for the weekend.

Friday 13^th May 2016.

After a run into town to pick up supplies and have breakfast the rest of the day was spent on the IMM site looking around the extensive trade village and having a few beers.  There was also the chance to meet rally legend Rauno Aaltonen on the ‘MINI’ stand.  Club BBQ and socialising at the club stand then the rest of the night spent at the IMM party tent meeting with friends from previous IMMs and plenty of Belgium beer.

Saturday 14^th May 2016.

Nick, Dawn, Jonny, Dave and Alix took a trip to Spa for a classic race meet although a lot of the day was qualifying races for the following day.  There were lots of nice classics on display in the car parks and paddock area.  Rachel and Steve went off to look around the area and stumbled across a lovely whiskey and gin shop where they found some chocolate and butterscotch liquors which Dawn enjoyed trying on her return!!

Sunday 15^th May 2016.

Nick, Dawn, Stephen, Jackie and Robert took the minis out for a tour of the local area where the cars drew a lot of interest from locals before returning to Kristal Park for the IMM closing ceremony and the traditional hand over of the IMM key to next year’s hosts.

The 2017 IMM will be hosted by the Irish Mini Owners Club at Westport, Co. Mayo.
