Brooklands Mini Day – 24th March 2013

On Sunday 24th March the historic Brooklands Museum hosted its latest annual Mini Day. This event is typically the one that fires the starting pistol on a whole new season of Mini shows and is always well-attended by Mini fans showing off a wide variety of cars from every era of production. However, this year saw snow, sleet, freezing rain and plummeting temperatures across the southern England. Those many hardy souls that did make it to Brooklands were at a loss to remember attending a show in such inhospitable conditions.

It wasn’t all bad however! Hot tea and food, along with the multiple layers of clothing kept us reasonably warm during the day and the huge variety of Minis on display kept people smiling and snapping away until faces and fingers could stand no more.

The staff at Brooklands made extra efforts to ensure all their visitors were as warm and well-fed as possible. At the end of the day, as we all headed off, everyone was agreed it was an event we’ll all remember for a long time!

Easter Social Event – The Biddestone Arms – 17th March 2013

A chat and good food we thought one club night so we had a look in our diaries and decided to make it the March club night and then discovered it was Easter Sunday so what best to have on a Sunday?  A roast of course so I trundled off to the bar to check availability for the lunchtime and to get the options for the carvery.  All decided and numbers provisionally booked I sent out an invitation to all club members and had a very good response.

A good turnout on the day with a couple of members turning up unexpectedly for a drink and a chat.  A good time was had by all with lots of chat of course about minis, the joys of owning them and the current problems that some members had and of course Dr Len was on hand to give some advice and offer some parts from his stash!!!  The food was very good and good value for money.

And of course Nick had a very large plate stacked high with food, certainly he had the case of 'big eyes'!!!!
